sachavonkarl74 Almost 10 years ago but never old, it's a very melodic album, if it weren't for the cave-deep growls, this would not even be death metal in its classic sense. Still, it is extremely enjoyable if you're into bands like Face Down, System Shock or even Amon Amarth at times. Pity that is is the only work they released. It's not rich in variety as the songs tend to be similar, to some extent, but there are enough tempo changes to keep things flowing. The melodies are enchanting so it's a pleasure! Favorite track: Into The Maelstrom.

No need for rest, we feed on the quest Fueled by our hatred and driven by flesh Hewing men down, they shall die where they fall Barbarian blessed - we live by no laws   A pain breeding power beast, chained to the earth and beaten by day Released when the night falls to feast on the prey Bending the forest and crushing your cities The prayers go unheard to your weak, deafened deity   Behold— the battle rage below... An inextinguishable force All heaven resounds deep in discourse   An army of heathens thirsty for blood Build up the front lines, prepare for the flood   Now towards the end Virtue won't suffice The vice in our victory - The victory in vice   Under the dawn of a bleeding sunrise we watch from up high Smoke clears to show surrender of those left alive Forced to consume that which sets them free A seed that grows into a new disease Slaves - We capture all who bend the knee To join our legions of the Iron Breeze   Now towards the end Virtue won't suffice The vice in our victory - The victory in vice   Shield against shield, they struggle in anguish A story of steel, the victors and vanquished   Under the dawn of a bleeding sunrise we watch from up high Smoke clears to show surrender of those left alive

Dark Designs 05:44
Chasing red ribbons, snow-blind and moonstruck, with dark designs bent below This twisted trail of hope will end when the blood drops start to slow   The wolves are on the scent; I must go in haste And keep their hounds at a distance  Close to a feast of Thyestean grandeur in this winter will be a godsend Fingers are numb, frozen to a knife, the lifeblood of an ill-fated friend   An endless winter siege with no end in sight Overcome with this sick inclination   I said a prayer or two—silence… Where the hell is your guidance? Time to take control of my fate Time to pick apart deadweight   What began as a party is now down to few—survival is the only law The warmer the corpse, the easier to flay, no time for the flesh now to thaw Around my neck hands a crucifix, praise God all the hope that it gives Yet hope here is absent for the devil he knows: where all life dies, death lives   Still alive, I'll end you quick with one long slice Show your throat, let blood seep into the snow   No virtue left within this sanguinary pursuit When the sight of meat is present, hunger is absolute Close, the ever-watching eyes, haunting while I eat If we should both enter afterlife I hope our paths never meet   Slice forbidden fruit from the limb, praise the good God with a hymn Feel the bitter juice trickle down, down my throat slowly and grim A sacrifice was set in motion coming on like a dark flood Ominous words are whispered, "This is my body, this is my blood."   A new craving for flesh, dark designs are refreshed I feel a power rising deep within my soul All illness gone yet there's a new hunger—uncontrolled   The morning star now bringing dawn, shedding light upon the kill After days now of voracious hunger I won't stop till I've had my fill   In a storm of sins no one likes to point Lest they themselves be judged Turn a blind eye this way; never mind what they'll say Just this one time you'll see, understand it's him or me What began as a party is now down to few, survival is the only law The warmer the corpse, the easier to flay, no time for the flesh now to thaw Around my neck hands a crucifix, praise God all the hope that it gives Yet hope here is absent for the devil he knows where all life dies death lives

Her fictitious eyes were lit by the moon of an almost fictitious sky I thought I smelled her fragrance through the sea salt breeze We danced at midnight truly oblivious to the peril around us We danced, the boards creaked and bottles rolled back and forth Bound to a vessel, in spirit, the ship's a part of me Bound to a life at sea when I left and neglected royalty Innocence was gone... it left the moment the plague entered Inside our home and took you... our love splintered Derelict now, I have become one with the seven My ship was true and my crew was dead, they lay all about the deck Famine had taken them and taken me, yet I still breathe life A deal with the devil has saved me thus far, but into the maelstrom we sail Me and my love reunited again in this final dance of death Deep in the maelstrom we go, into this black abyss below Only I know how deep it goes and what awaits at the bottom We dance to the thunder in childish delight and stare up above at the lightning When it lights the seraphim are visible, staring sadly above I cursed my men and I cursed my own soul for one last infernal dance Back from death she was brought for a midnight meeting Dance we shall, until the bottom, with skeletons watching around Until flames pick our flesh and rum bottles roll to and fro O’ Death has come back to find me again The sea swallows me down with my men And if I should fall to my doom on this night I’ll know it was worth everything for the Sight of her face staring at me, reunited, reliving dreams With the wind in my sails, carrying me to a place of infinite seas I never got a chance to say goodbye to her I knew I’d see her again in this life or the next God would never ever stop me on my quest O’ Death has come back to find me again The sea swallows me down with my men And if I should fall to my doom on this night I’ll know it was worth everything for the Sight of her face staring at me, reunited, reliving dreams With the wind in my sails, carrying me to a place of infinite seas I know I'll see her again in this life or the next This tempest will not founder me; it guides me towards my end To the gates of Hell and back I’ll sail to be with her again

The nightingale’s song weeps sweetly on the sea-born breeze. The windswept trees still whisper tales of he who, through his gift of song, lingers on. His pain a somber melody...   A tragedy which would eclipse all others Heartstrings ring out the song of time No crueler fate could ere befall two lovers A hero's tragedy, the gods design   In music, Orpheus was rivaled by none other 'Twas said that when he sang, all things bent to his will So lovely, transfixing, the world would smile in wonder Son of Caliope, father of song He stood adored by both the gods and the mortals With lyre in hand, he could have whom he pleased But none had struck so sweet a chord within him As when his gaze fell on Eurydice   Love's purity affords no viewing As misfortune fails to enter thought Affairs of man so oft fall prey to ruin In webs of treachery, we oft get caught   The waves drum out their saddened roar upon the rocky shore. Their foamy fingers clinging to the sands, which he roams forever free. Walking hand in hand, their ghostly song eternally...   The lovely Eurydice was his now to be wed A swell of joyous noise in them arose So lovely, transfixing, was she upon the altar These lover's destinies none could oppose   In delight, after the service concluded A joyful frolic through the meadows nearby Upon a serpents nest the maiden intruded A viper's kiss would steal the light from her eyes Away into the darkness she slipped, from this world she was ripped Into the world of the dead where she would forever be in solitude, eternally His loss would prove too heavy to bear, he would succumb to despair Into a living hell he'd been sentenced to be, unless his love could be freed   He resolved to bring her back from the dead Be reunited with the one he had wed Regain the part of him which made him complete The fates, which took his love, would suffer defeat   Through Tanaerus to the Stygian realm, with neither spear, shield, nor helm Into the throne room of this underworld king, and then a song he would sing...   "The beauty of your song has convinced me to grant your lovers return. Though, there be a condition I insist must be met... You shan’t on your journey gaze upon her till you've reached the end. If it is so, she will forever be mine. Here is your one chance - heed my warning. Now, from here, be gone."   Welcomed by warm sunlight, the threshold Orpheus crossed The world above a blessing, but was his lover lost? In worry, in panic, he turned to face his wife Alas, in doing so he forfeited her life   She failed to cross into the world of the living When his eyes met hers into the darkness she fell He gave his all to pull her back from her reaping But with her final breath she whispered, "Farewell..."   Away into depression he slipped, from his grasp she was ripped. Accursed, he'd always be victim to his memories Wandering alone until again they would meet His last years spent alone in torment and pain, his death a welcome refrain For with his love he would be, their song for eternity Bringing an end to this tale of tragedy

Ashen Effigy 05:15
As fate would have it I was awakened in the sweat of the night I heard the susurrus of the black attendant, hidden to my right As screams unfurled, as in pattern, erupting from cell to cell I saw the origin of despair, the smoke of a thousand hells   Suddenly, misery sings all around In the verse of a primal pentameter… weaving profoundly   Through a sea of arms the last sentries flee past in sadness Despite the alarms they come not to rescue for their madness   An unforeseen turn of events, I wonder if it's too late to repent All along I thought I had much longer (It) seems I couldn't have been more wrong   The teeth of the flames bite hard into skin of the poor souls across from me It then realigns its gaze and inches along, roaring hungrily   The smoke billows up and panic erupts in a tempest perfect for death To yell is no use. To inhale the noose, around your throat, every breath   The smell of burnt meat, the ominous stench, awaiting of what I’ll soon feel Using my mirror to reflect the horror of flesh melted to steel   Pain- the perfect misery Captured in an ashen effigy Pain- the perfect misery Wearing the mask of tragedy   Projecting images on the wall, our shadows mocking our own downfall Acting out scenes of truest sincerity, the stage of set for a tragedy Now for a curtain call...   Ashes to ash, rising distrust - a breeze blows the stench of an utter disgust Foreshadowing my demise…   Burning my eyes the inferno's alive It has a mind of its own Sentencing death with every breath The fate of all is known   Backed in a corner with nowhere to go- is this judgment for all my deeds? What if this hell I can never escape, will go on continuously?   As flames engulf me I reach for the pictures of all I have left to cherish Outside it reads, "Let justice be done, even if the world shall perish."

The faint horn of the hunt sings and the echo of the hounds ring deep Where death greats poor Bassianus by the hands of dear Demetrius and Chiron Brothers, born of the Goth whore, bred for treachery and for torture Their eyes fix on the dear girl, their sadistic desires now unfurl   Left in a lingering perdition, a living hell Her lament in the dead of the night heard by a midnight knell A silhouette of suffering, with no one to tell If she had just but one thing to speak, their names she would yell   The raping of Lavinia- Oh, the sweet sound of surrender The divine blood of this virgin shall be spilled now by converging to pain They came henceforth to maim her and to ravish the remainder To quench their thirst for blind lust; evil deeds grow with every thrust of hate The morning mist rolls by, and listening, angels cry A funeral dirge is heard, fallen ones sing the word   "Summon Hell and its fury! On this night I call to you. Bring hence ten thousand men at arms to fight with Rome so true."   Tears descend to unite with blood stained lips tonight A crimson soliloquy; bringing solace from tragedy   "Come forth with no mercy, with lies they've slain my sons! Brought death and destruction of my kin, they've come undone!"   All the blood from their throats, and all that's come from their lies All that's ground from their bones, be baked for their mother is nigh   "In the night it's hard to see, I let the moonlight guide me. My pulse is quickened by the virtue fading from her. These woods are ruthless, dreadful, deaf and dull, Endearing the framework to maim and satisfy my lust."   Despite all the vengeance at hand, in her dreams things seem so real When she awakes from her slumber there's no way to wipe the tears The gentle tongue that now wails, soon will never whisper this tale For it will kiss the cold knife, severing the secrets of this strife Left cold, bare and broken; a blood-soaked, naked token Of the disdain for Andronicus, the name screamed when the blade bit in her wrists   Left in a lingering perdition, a living hell Her lament in the dead of the night heard by a midnight knell A silhouette of suffering, with no one to tell If she had just but one thing to speak, their names she would yell

My Adversary 06:46
Bloodshot eyes betray my desperate cries, so weak So hard to realize that deep inside this grinding and groveling is breaking me So who am I? The answer I've sought but fail to seek From he who dwells inside, content to hide behind this mask of normalcy   This life once filled with so much hope, now broken and buried In graves of my dreams and desires, tombs begat by my adversary His hold on me is so strong I can barely draw strength to move The truth is, I know not how long I can manage to disapprove   With every day, I slip away After all what else can I do? A small tragedy, what's become of me Walled within, with no breaking through   Why lie? This fear is my crippler and my crutch For always I feel his stare, the piercing glare The weight of his presence is far too much Screaming inside! A new me just trying to break free But this cloud has no silver lining while grace is dying Delusions abound of what was to be…   A tunnel ahead with no light at the end A new dawn with no sun to transcend The twilight upon which I've come to depend Shrouding me in perpetual sin Not sins of the flesh, nor malice, or rage But the sins I've no hope to assuage They're those of my captor who keeps me encaged My own lock, my own key, my prison, my stage  With every day, I slip away After all what else can I do? A small tragedy, what's become of me Walled within with no breaking through   Always blinding my way, my chance to be free From this path I can’t stray What price must I pay to bring night into day? My adversary Lashed to the slaving stone - I must break free unfettered I must do this on my own - Time now to be untethered Strength will be found again - For my emancipation The death of this foe within - Self-worth initiation   Conquering my imposed injustice Satisfying my right to be Reigning o'er all which lies before us By my will I've chosen to be free   Once blinding my way, my chance to be free On this path I won't stay But this price I have paid brings yet a new day My adversary

My gaze met the wall towering high past sight With no gate to be seen, only immortal night   Thoughts bent inwards, I can almost feel her there Pacing in trance, eyes to the sky, skin - naked and bare "Abandon all hope ye who enter here" Should be written, so bold, for all who come near Yet hope's all I have left amid the broken dreams A dream in which I can save her from this harrowing scene   I've traveled in desperation to overcome this wall I will not return alone, if I should return at all   If she were encircled by the river Lethe I would upheave my anchor, tied tightly around me And sink into forgetfulness through cold black shades To the bottom, to remain in a perpetual state   Just to be near her fire, to feel the warmth inside her I'll stay silent and humble waiting for walls to crumble   A broadened view - a realization Of all I've lost - my own ruination A broadened view - a new epiphany Weeping inside - a silent symphony   Inside on her own; distorted memories from a home The rivers and the rain won't wash away undying pain Held together by a thread, her wasted words will go unread The letters to the one, hoping soon one day he'd come for her   A promise to always be kept no matter what may come Nothing will stand in the way of what's to be done Her blue eyes will still have their hue; embrace will be just as sweet The final chapters left will be complete A broadened view - a realization Of all I've lost - my own ruination A broadened view - a new epiphany Weeping inside - a silent symphony

Trials and adversity The weaker their will, the greater their dependency When darkness is darkest and the foundation shakes It's always surprising how little effort it takes To sway their thoughts, to be received  They must always be humble, they must always believe To sow the seeds, to justify  They must always be willing to relent to the lie   For ages we have stoked the fires Compelling the masses to fulfill all of our desires When saying their prayers it is to us whom they speak It's always so trivial all the things that they seek   Like a shepherd tends his sheep A watchful eye we must keep To reign them in from all their sin Completely oblivious to the world they live in   We are the keepers of the flame You are the ash over which we reign We mold for you reality We are the eyes through which you see   The greatest of you all are we who brace your fall Content to be led astray, we've watched as you waste away Your idle minds so frail, believing in childish stories and tales For we, the authors of all you've known, sit atop a burning throne   A day will come to pass when you all will know our names A promise of deliverance consumed by flames   The eyes through which you see   Silence and complacency The less that they know, the more they'll assume they are free When questions need answers and the truth is too much It's always amusing when the flesh and flame touch To have our way, to gain their trust They must always be driven by their fear and their lust To keep them calm, to satisfy They must never acknowledge that their life is a lie   Like a shepherd tends his sheep A watchful eye we must keep To reign them in from all their sin Completely oblivious to the world they live in   We are the keepers of the flame You are the ash over which we reign We mold for you reality We are the eyes through which you see
